MIRAZUR
RESIDENCE IN MEGANISI, LEFKAS
Perched atop a ridge on the picturesque island of Meganisi, surrounded by century-old olive trees, Mirazur offers an entrancing retreat with sweeping views of the sea and the majestic Pindos mountain range. The two-storey villa, originally conceived by Nomen Architects, underwent a complete transformation, preserving only its concrete structure.
Embracing the irregular geometry of the building, characterized by tangent rectangles, a bold design choice was made to introduce an extensive wooden pergola. An architectural undertaking that serves as a unifying element, creating the illusion of an expansive canopy delicately floating over a podium emerging from the earth.
Despite the seemingly contradictory nature of the chosen materials against the lush green backdrop, the villa exudes a warm and inviting ambiance. Terracotta hues and rustic textures - handmade terrazzo, marble and natural wood - uniformly applied to walls, floors, and ceilings, come together to establish a serene environment ideal for a summer residence.
The villa features five distinct bedrooms, large seating and dining spaces and a hammam, seamlessly blending private sanctuaries with shared living spaces. Nestled in the embrace of nature, the exterior space, developing in three levels, seamlessly integrates with its surroundings. Its focal point lies in the middle tier, where the swimming pool, remote yet inviting, connects the upper and lower levels. Surrounded by vibrant greenery, the upper level treats occupants to breathtaking panoramic views of the Elia peninsula, while the lower level, cradled by the terrain, offers a secluded retreat.
