APARTMENT BUILDING IN KIPOUPOLI, ATHENS
Designed on a narrow plot, adjacent to old Athenian Houses and multi-storey buildings from various eras, Polykatoikia n.41 is a new 4-storey residential building.
Aiming to provide a humble addition to the polyphony of the urban fabric and to preserve the existing tall trees on the perimeter of the plot, the main structure is conceived as a simple rectangular mass. Large window frames provide ample light and continuity from the communal areas to the elongated balconies enhancing the sense of airiness of each apartment.
Although the main block is painted in a typical off-white color, the protruding balconies are adorned with natural hues and colors, olive green railings, wooden ceilings, and terracotta awnings in order to blend with the surrounding nature.
